Health Insurance Assistance

The National Association of States United for Aging and Disabilities (NASUAD) has resources available to assist state and local aging and disability agencies with outreach and education on health insurance assistance. Through the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA), NASUAD created resources to provide outreach to populations that may be eligible for financial assistance with Medicare costs.

Additionally, information is available about the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) that provide local one-on-one counseling and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and their families on Medicare and other health insurance issues. SHIPs are a resource for clear and accurate health insurance information and are available in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
