Disability Employment Initiative

The Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration (ETA) is releasing an eighth round of Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) grants. The approximately eight (8) grants will total a combined $15 million dollars with each grant’s ceiling set at $2.5 million and floor set at $1.5 million. DEI grants aim to encourage and develop existing careers for two populations: youth (ages 14 to 24) with visible, non-visible, and other significant disabilities such as chronic health conditions; and, adults (18 and older) with visible, non-visible, other significant disabilities, and including those who acquired disabilities in adulthood. Grantees are expected to improve their existing “career pathways” systems and make them fully accessible and inclusive to all individuals with disabilities. The grant opportunity closes on July 31st, 2017.
