Communications and Research Assistant

The National Association of States United for Aging and Disabilities (NASUAD) represents the nation’s 56 state and territorial agencies on aging and disabilities and supports visionary state leadership, the advancement of state systems innovation, and the articulation of national policies that support home and community based services for people who are older or have a disability, and their caregivers. NASUAD is seeking a Communications & Research Assistant to support multiple grant initiatives and project deliverables. Responsibilities include: writing and disseminating weekly e-newsletter; assisting in the administration and/or creation of online trainings and webinars; conducting member communications and surveys and gathering resulting feedback for analysis; updating company website and managing social media platforms; providing communications assistance and organization to conference team; and researching legislation/policy questions as needed. This position will also include front desk duties such as answering phones and processing of mail.   The successful candidate will be a college graduate and have strong written and oral communication skills and analytical capability.  Knowledge of website and survey tools and an advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel is preferred.   Key Responsibilities:
  • Write and disseminate weekly e-newsletter
  • Update website and post content regularly on Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin
  • Build and maintain online state policy tracking tools
  • Construct and distribute brief membership surveys and analyze the findings
  • Support senior staff with general research
  • Assist with conference and meeting planning tasks, including registration, marketing, and outreach
  • Work on special projects, as needed
  Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in Public or Health Policy, Public Administration, Social Work or related field preferred
  • Superior verbal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity and proficiency with computer systems, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet software
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player with the ability to take initiative and work well independently
