CJE SeniorLife (“CJE”) has more than 600 employees, serves over 20,000 older adults and family members annually from downtown Chicago to the North/Northwest suburbs, and is recognized nationally as a comprehensive and innovative provider of residential living and community-based programs for older adults. CJE also has a strong education and applied research focus.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO is accountable for the overall strategic and operational aspects of the organization including responsibility for the day-to-day oversight of all programs and services. The essential leadership and management components of the President & CEO are to: 1) collaborate closely with the Board of Directors in developing and implementing long-term strategies for serving older adults, 2) collaborate closely with the Jewish Federation professional staff and lay leadership on fundraising and major strategic initiatives, 3) ensure the highest standards of care and services to CJE’s clients, 4) strengthen financial and operational management practices, infrastructure capabilities and balance sheet, 5) increase the brand visibility and strong reputation of CJE throughout the geographic service area, 6) maintain current and increase new sources of revenue through innovative programming, monetization of services and fundraising, 7) expand and support provider partnerships with local hospitals, hospital systems and community-based human services, and 8) build strong relationships with local, state and federal governmental agencies responsible for older adult services.
The person CJE seeks will possess a high level of financial and business management acumen along with solid personal services industry knowledge, preferably attained in a complex organization supported by multiple governmental funding streams including Medicaid and Medicare. Experience in eldercare/healthcare is a plus, but strong consideration will be given to other relevant leadership experience. A background working within a large, multi-layered organizational structure in which multiple planning and decision-making exists would also be a plus as would a person whose roles have included fundraising and/or generating capital from major donors and/or investors for programs or projects. Experience working with active governing boards who are responsible for setting policies and working closely with senior leadership is important.
